StogieBoys.com got a makeover

If you haven't seen the new site at stogieboys then you should check it out. I have always liked the selection of cigars and accessories that StogieBoys has to offer. The interface, however, was a bit hard to navigate and find what I was looking for with ease. If you felt the same way then StogieBoys must be psychic, they have completely redesigned the site. The new search bar brings up more accurate results making it much easier to find just what you are looking for. I have also noticed a few new offerings each time i have gone to the site. StogieBoys offers a lowest price guarantee and an excellent selection no matter what your cigar needs. They also now carry C&C Cigars, and offered me a chance to review a couple of their offerings for the site. The reviews for the C&C LRMD Churchill and the C&C Connecticut Toro can be found in links below. I hope you will check out the new look at Stogieboys.com. I must pass along that you cannot add their StogieGirls to the shopping cart at this time, but I have been assured that they are working on it.

Cuban Crafters Revolucion 3 blade scissors

I recently placed an order online for a pair of Cuban Crafters cigar scissors. The particular vendor I ordered from on Amazon shipped the wrong item and I ended up with the Revolucion scissors instead. I figured why not give them a go. This is one wicked looking pair of scissors, with their 3 stainless steel blades. They do feature a wide handle design that is great for larger handed individuals like myself. What really catches they attention about these is the 3 blades and how they mesh together when making a cut. When you open the handles the blades move to the outside of the circle and upon squeezing the blades together all 3 blades move together at the same time. The blades are designed to be self-sharpening and require little maintenance and care. They come with a small brush to assist in the removal of any bits of tobacco left in the blades when clipping the cap. I found that these seem to work best on the smaller ring gauge cigars (below 50). It doesn't do it every cut but I would say probably 30 percent of the time there is a small protrusion of filler left bulging from the cut. It's almost as if there is a "dead spot" where the blades meet up to finish the cut. It is certainly one of the most unique looking cutters I have come across and does make a decent cut. You can never have enough cigar toys so I will hold on to this one for now. It lists for about 25 bucks on the Cuban Crafters website and does carry a lifetime warranty. If you want a very unique and eye catching cutter or just a conversation piece, this cutter is right up your alley. www.CubanCrafters.com for more information on Cuban Crafters line of accessories and inventory of cigars.

My first cigar punch

I know, it probably seems hard to believe. I realized that the only means of getting smoke through my cigar that I have ever really used is a double guillotine cutter. My first dance with scissors came after a fellow BOTL posted something about them. So I decided to broaden my arsenal of options a bit. I still plan to buy a v cut since I don't own one or know anyone locally who has one. I browsed around for a couple of hours trying to decide on one. My options were pretty limited since my wife has put me on a very tight cigar budget. I chose this one because: 1) It is an attractive silver color and doesn't resemble a toy. 2) It was within my price range 3) It carries a lifetime warranty.

I have punched a handful of cigars with it so far, including the Reinado I wrote a review on last night. I honestly thought it would have a negative effect on draw over a cut, but there wasn't really a noticeable difference. I have had good draw and clean holes punched so far. I didn't notice any bitter tastes from extra nicotine building up at the cap either. Press the keyring end down to expose the blade, after punching simply press the button on the side and the plug shoots out.  I believe this cheaper punch will last for awhile, atleast until I can get the one I really want. The holes punched have all been super clean and not cap damage as of yet. It is certainly more convenient to have one of these on a keyring than to carry a cutter in your pocket. This particular cutter was 9.72 and shipped to me for free from Premier cigar humidors on amazon. Here is the exact link to this cutter on amazon Punch Cigar Cutter in Silver If you're like me and enjoy the cigar world on a wife-induced budget, then this is a great accessory that doesn't cost much to get your hands on.
